UNESCO gave cultural heritage status to Bengal's Durga Puja, Modi and Mamta said - it is a proud moment

UNESCO on Wednesday accorded the status of cultural heritage to Durga Puja of Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed happiness over this announcement of UNESCO. He said that it is a proud moment for every countryman. On the other hand, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that it is a proud moment for every Bengali. Durga Puja is more than worship for us. It's a feeling for us.

UNESCO said that we congratulate India and Indians. We hope that after Durga Puja is included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the local people will be more excited about it. Cultural heritage is not just a collection of signs and objects, it also includes the traditions and sentiments of our ancestors, which are passed on to the generations to come.
