Ukraine war: Russia captures Mariupol after several days of fierce fighting, heavy bombing in Lviv

After days of fierce fighting, Russia on Tuesday captured Mariupol, a stronghold of the Ukrainian army. After the capture of the city, Russia has sent hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers to its captured cities. It is being considered a big defeat for Ukraine. At the same time, the hope of an end to the war that has been going on for months is also being expected. Mariupol, which has long faced heavy Russian bombardment, is now almost in the rubble. Ukraine claims that thousands of people in the city have been killed in this war. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Schultz spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the phone and inquired about the military and humanitarian situation.

Russia claims more than 250 Ukrainian soldiers surrendered in Mariupol. On the other hand, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army said in a statement that the Mariupol stronghold had completed its combat mission. The top military leadership has ordered unit commanders to protect the lives of soldiers. Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said 53 wounded soldiers were taken to Russian-occupied Novoazovsk, while 211 were taken to the Russian-backed Olenivka. They will be exchanged with Russian soldiers. The Ukrainian military said about 600 soldiers were present at the steel plant.

At the same time, President Zelensky said in an address that we hope that we will be able to save our warriors. Many of them are seriously injured and are being looked after. Ukraine wants to keep its heroes alive. Meanwhile, Western military sources have said Putin is deeply involved in the war. Like a colonel or a brigadier, he is taking decisions regarding operations and warfare techniques. On the other hand, Russia has alleged that the world's seven major economic powers (G-7) are seizing Russia's foreign exchange reserves and using them in the name of Ukraine.
