According to news agency PTI, Russian President Putin, in a meeting with top officials on Sunday, ordered the Defense Minister and the Chief of the Military General Staff to keep anti-nuclear forces ready for war. At the meeting, Putin emphasized that major NATO member states have made "offensive statements".
The relief news came on Sunday evening after shelling, aerial missile strikes surrounded Ukraine's capital Kiev, and Russian troops who had entered the second major city of Kharkiv were driven out in a day-long battle.
