Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Denys Shmyhal to serve as the country’s next Minister of Defence, saying, “The vast experience of Denys Shmyhal will certainly be valuable in the position of Minister of Defence of Ukraine. This is precisely the area where the country’s maximum resources, maximum tasks, and a great deal of responsibility are currently concentrated."
These are as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Monday made the largest reshuffle of his government since the beginning of war with Russia as he introduced new prime minister and defence minister to his nation.

Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko taking Prime Minister Denys Shmygal position is also dictated by the fact that he will head the defence ministry, as appointed by Zelenskyy.
The nominations coincided with a critical points in a three year war with Russia. Direct negotiations of Russia and Ukraine aimed at stopping the fight failed, and the United States has already declared that it would increase military assistance to proceedings in Kyiv in a serious course by Trump on the policy of his predecessor, Joe Biden.
