Sources said the new owner of the social media platform, Elon Musk, has cut workforce around the world to fix Twitter's financial situation and make its $44 billion acquisition viable.

Elon Musk has now started massive layoffs to reduce the company's global workforce. A Twitter India employee, on the condition of anonymity, told PTI: "The layoffs have started. Some of my colleagues have been informed about this by email."
US-based social media platform Twitter had earlier said in an internal email to employees, "We will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday in an effort to get Twitter back on track. Everyone will receive a personalized email."
The company will temporarily close all offices for the safety of employees as well as the Twitter system and customer data. Twitter had said, 'If you are in office or going to office, please return home.'
