Trump Gave Iran Two Weeks, Struck in Two Days: Why the US President Didn’t Wait
Donald Trump had indicated he would take two weeks to decide whether or not the US would step into the global conflict, but U.S. military action towards Iran came just two days later.

Trump Gave Iran Two Weeks, Struck in Two Days: On Friday, US President Donald Trump also warned Iran that it had two weeks to avert military action. However, just two days later on Sunday, the US military destroyed critical nuclear sites in Iran and caused significant damage to Iran's nuclear program.
However, a report from Axios, noted that Trump was also considering the option of talks between US and Iranian officials before deciding to send ground troops.

The proposal had come from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who called Trump earlier in the week while Trump was meeting with G7 leaders in Canada. Trump also received "signals" for back-channel talks from Iran.
Axios reported Trump was so committed to a solution that he was willing to send Vice President JD Vance and White House envoy Steve Witkoff to Turkey for the talks and even indicated that he would attend the talks himself if required.
The proposal for talks was communicated to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi by Erdogan. Both Iranian officials reportedly tried to reach Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with the proposal but were unable to do so.
Khamenei went into hiding into an underground secure bunker, in fear of assassination. After the Iranian officials lost all communication with him, they told Turkey, and then Turkey told the US that talks would not happen.
A few days after they ended the talks, Erdogan met with Araghchi in Istanbul, and asked him to hold talks with the US, as Turkey would set it up.
On that very same day was when the US military action against Iran was taking place, in which B-2 stealth bombers took off from the US airbase in Missouri and bombed three nuclear sites - Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan in Iran.
Using the B-2 stealth bombers with bunker buster bombs the US now joined its ally Israel, in the fight to curb its enemies nuclear ambitions.
Ever since the beginning of the Iran-Israel conflict on June 13, Trump had warned Tehran to back off and come "to their senses" about their nuclear planning.
With the announcement of the US military action against Iran, Trump confirmed that a full payload of bombs were dropped on Fordow, a very key nuclear site to Iran, and one that also was long considered impenetrable by Israeli bombs.
“There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!" Trump said in a Truth Social post.
As Trump urged Iran to make peace, calling it a "Middle East bully" following the U.S. military action, Iran stated it reserves the right to defend itself against the "grave violation".
