Trump Demands Release of Grand Jury Documents in Jeffrey Epstein Case

Trump Demands Release of Grand Jury Documents: President Trump says he’s told the Justice Department to produce more documents about sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

"Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval," Trump said in a social media post.

After Mr. Trump’s statement, Ms. Bondi said on X that the Justice Department will ask the court on Friday (July 18, 2025) to unseal the grand jury transcripts.

“President Trump — we are ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts,” Ms. Bondi wrote.

This comes as Trump tries to put out the fire over a Wall Street Journal story that says he gave a nude woman drawing to Epstein’s 50th birthday book. The president says the letter is fake and he’ll sue the paper.

The Epstein fallout is also complicating House Republicans’ plans to vote on Thursday on Trump’s bill to cut government spending.

Trump’s latest Epstein statement came after he threatened to sue The Wall Street Journal over a story that he wrote a crude letter to Epstein.

The letter allegedly included a drawing of a naked woman — with Trump’s signature in the drawing — as part of a collection of notes for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003.

Trump strongly denied writing the note, calling it "false, malicious, and defamatory," and claiming the newspaper ignored his direct denials.

"President Trump will be suing The Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp, and Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch, shortly. The Press has to learn to be truthful, and not rely on sources that probably don't even exist," Trump posted on Truth Social.

The president was already under fire for his previous ties to Epstein.

Trump is one of many high profile people who were friends with Epstein, though he claims he never went to Epstein’s island in the US Virgin Islands.

Epstein, a billionaire, was charged with child sex trafficking and conspiracy. He died by suicide in jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial. His death spawned many conspiracy theories.

During the 2024 election, Trump promised to release files on Epstein but later told his MAGA supporters to forget about the files.

Many of Trump’s supporters, especially in the core MAGA movement, are accusing the administration of covering for powerful people tied to the case.

The Epstein case is the biggest rift between Trump and his MAGA base before the 2026 midterms.

Trump has been accused of sexual assault many times. In January 2024 a court ordered him to pay $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll in defamation damages for denying he raped her 30 years ago.
