Tipu Sultan's name will be removed from Malad's park in Mumbai, there was controversy over naming by Uddhav government
On Republic Day also, BJP and Bajrang Dal leaders protested at Malad Square. During this protest Bajrang Dal workers clashed with the Mumbai Police and were taken into custody.

It has been decided to change the name of a park in Mumbai's Malad area from Tipu Sultan to something else. Suburban District Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha has ordered the Suburban District Collector to remove the name of Tipu Sultan given to the park in Malad area. The park was named during the tenure of the MVA government and the BJP opposed the renaming.
During the Uddhav government in Malad, the BJP had objected several times to the name of the park after Tipu Sultan. Even the BJP workers had staged a sit-in to protest. On Republic Day also, BJP and Bajrang Dal leaders protested at Malad Square. During this protest Bajrang Dal workers clashed with the Mumbai Police and were taken into custody.
The park was named after Tipu Sultan by Aslam Sheikh, the local Congress MLA in Malad and the then foster minister of Mumbai city in the previous MVA government. Not only was the BJP opposed to this decision of the former minister, but many Hindutva organizations also objected to it.
