Thunderstorm and Rain wreaks havoc at New Delhi’s Central ‘Connaught Place’, See Pics
Heavy rain and thunderstorm lashed the national capital this afternoon, which resulted in a massive uprooting of trees in major areas of the National Capital.

While the rest of the National Capital took a sigh of relief seeing drizzles after scorching heat, hailed as New Delhi’s heart, Connaught Place witnessed the havoc of the rain. The rain, which although was of short duration, came associated with winds, and uprooted several trees in the nearby area.
Apart from the fact that it rained cats and dogs, a huge hailstorm that came along halted the traffic as well. This affected the Flight timing as several flights had to undergo a slight delay.
Earlier, the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC), Delhi, said thunderstorms and gusty winds with a speed of 30-50 km per hour would accompany the rain over adjoining areas of West, North-West, South, South-West Delhi.
The official handle of Indigo Airlines mentioned, "Raindrops and thunderstorms in #Delhi may impact our flight operations. Please keep enough travel time in hand to avoid any hassle. Keep a check on your flight status. For any assistance, DM us on Twitter/Facebook.
According to Skymet, “Easterly humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture over northern plains. An increase in temperature & high humidity leads to Thunder clouds, dust storms,s, and rain. Pre- Monsoon rains & thunderstorms may continue on and off for a few days.”
