Threat to the life of Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, increased security
Shinde had received a threat letter, which is suspected to have been sent by the Maoists last October, when he was the urban development minister and also the guardian minister of Naxalism-hit Gadchiroli district.

According to Pretr, the official said that after receiving specific information, we have taken necessary action and increased the security of the Chief Minister. He said that additional security has been provided to the Chief Minister, who has got Z Plus category security. Security has also been beefed up at Shinde's private residence in Thane and Varsha's official residence in Mumbai, he said. Shinde is scheduled to address his first Dussehra rally at Mumbai's MMRDA ground on October 5.
Eknath Shinde became the chief minister in June this year when the Uddhav Thackeray-led government collapsed due to his rebellion with Shiv Sena MLAs. Eknath's son Shrikant Shinde is also an MP from Kalyan seat on Shiv Sena ticket. He was the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from October 2014 to December 2014. Appointed as cabinet minister of PWD in Maharashtra state government in 2014 itself. In 2019, got the post of Cabinet Minister, Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare (Government of Maharashtra).
