The Kerala government is going to make a cabinet reshuffle soon. This was informed by Left Democratic Front convener EP Jayarajan. He said that there will be a reshuffle in the cabinet of the state government soon. The reshuffle was confirmed after Excise Minister MV Govindan Master took over as the new State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday.
CPM central committee member and local self-government minister MV Govindan will replace Kodiyeri Balakrishnan as the new party state secretary. Notably, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stepped down from the role on Sunday due to his health condition.
In a brief official statement issued after the state committee meeting on Sunday, the CPM confirmed the promotion of MV Govindan to the post of CPM state secretary. "Since Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is unable to discharge his responsibilities as CPM's state secretary, MV Govindan was elected as the party's state secretary in the state committee meeting held today," the CPM said in a statement.
The meeting was presided over by LDF convener EP Jayarajan and was attended by CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other politburo members Prakash Karat, M A Baby and A Vijayaragavan.
