The process of government formation in Nepal is fast, Prachanda and PM Deuba's meeting raised political temperature

Amidst the counting of votes for the parliamentary elections in Nepal, top leaders have accelerated the process of government formation. Leaders of major political parties of the country have started efforts to explore the possibilities of government formation. The country is once again going towards a coalition government due to the election trends. Significantly, Nepal has been facing political instability for more than a decade. Significantly, to get a clear majority in the House of Representatives, any political party or coalition needs 138 seats. Nepal's ruling coalition led by Nepali Congress of PM Sher Bahadur Deuba has maintained its lead in Nepal's parliamentary elections on Saturday. So far the results of 150 seats have been declared under the direct voting election system. Of these, the Nepali Congress-led coalition has won 82 seats. It is worth mentioning that 165 seats of the country's 275-member House of Representatives are elected by direct voting, while 110 seats are elected through the proportional election system.
Political condition has heated up in Nepal amidst the counting of votes. Nepali PM Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN Maoist Centre) Pushpakmal Dahal Prachanda in the process of forming a new government met at the PM's residence in Kathmandu on Saturday. During this, both have agreed to form a new government in the country while continuing their five-party ruling coalition. Ganesh Shah, member of the Standing Committee of the CPN Maoist Centre, informed about the meeting between the two leaders. He said that during this meeting both the leaders discussed the latest political developments. With this, the possibilities of formation of a new government were discussed. Ganesh Shah said that both the leaders have agreed to continue with the existing ruling alliance.
