The most dangerous bomb blast ever in Colombia, 8 police officers killed

An explosive attack has occurred in western Colombia on Friday. Eight police officers have been killed in this attack. Colombian President Gustavo Petro strongly condemned the attack. Gustavo Petro said, "This is the deadliest attack on security forces since the country promised to end the nearly 60-year conflict." Police sources said that eight police officers were killed on Friday when they were traveling in a vehicle.

President Gustavo Petro said, "I strongly condemn the attack. 8 policemen have been killed in the attack. I have full sympathies with the families of the dead. This act is a complete obstacle to complete peace. I have asked the authorities to investigate the area."

Petro, a member of the M-19 rebel movement, has vowed to seek "absolute peace" by resuming talks with the National Liberation Army (ELN) rebels. To this end, the 2016 Peace Accord for Colombia's Ex-Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) fighters has been implemented to negotiate the surrender of criminal gangs in exchange for reduced punishment.

Conservative Ivan Duque broke peace talks with the ELN after the 2019 car bomb attack on a police academy in Bogota that killed 22 people. While Petro did not name the suspected perpetrators of Friday's attack, security sources said the now-disbanded FARC is active in the so-called dissident area of the insurgent movement. At the same time, according to the government, the dissident groups have rejected the peace agreement reached by their former leadership and have counted some 2,400 fighters in their ranks. Several famous commanders have recently been killed and many are fighting across the border in Venezuela.
