The coldest night of the season so far in Srinagar with a temperature of -5.8 degree Celsius

Cold wave intensified in Kashmir as the minimum temperature dropped several notches below the freezing point and many places recorded the coldest night of the season, officials said on Sunday. The meteorological office said Christmas in the valley this year was dry but cold. However, there is a possibility of rain next week.

Officials said the minimum temperature on Saturday night dropped several notches below the freezing point and remained below normal in the entire Valley except Gulmarg. Due to the severe cold, water supply lines have frozen in many areas as well as the inner parts of Dal Lake have also frozen, he said. Officials said Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.8 degrees Celsius, down from minus 5.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday night. He told that the city had the coldest night of this season so far.
