In the 1983 World Cup, it was a do or die match for Team India against Zimbabwe. Had India lost this match, it would have been out of the World Cup. Team India won the toss and decided to bat first. Initially, the team got heavy setbacks.

By 17 runs, five of the team's batsmen were out. When Kapil Dev came to bat, the fifth wicket fell in front of him. After this, he scored an unbeaten 175 in just 138 balls. He hit 16 fours and 6 sixes during this. This was the biggest innings of a batsman played in ODI cricket at that time.When the Indian team came out to bat, Kapil was taking a bath in the bathroom inside the dressing room. Five wickets had fallen one after the other, when Captain Kapil was bathing with soap. The same story is shown in the trailer of the film.

The video recording of this innings could not be done nor were people able to listen to this match on the radio. At that time the BBC was doing the World Cup live in England. BBC employees went on strike on the day of the Zimbabwe match. Due to this, neither anyone could watch this historic innings of Kapil live nor any video recording of it could be done.
