Frustrated by the increasing influx of tourists into the valley and the increasing sense of security and confidence among the common people, terrorists on Friday shot dead a sarpanch in Pattan in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. Police, Army, and CRPF personnel reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. On the basis of the clues received from the local people, they started an intensive search operation to nab the attacking terrorists.
According to the information received from Pattan, Sarpanch Manzoor Ahmed Bangru went to his house for some work around 6.30 pm, before Iftar at Goshbug at around 6.30 pm on Friday. Suddenly terrorists came there. Before the sarpanch could understand anything, the terrorists fired at him from a very close range. He fell to the ground and the terrorists fled from there thinking him to be dead. The sarpanch's family members and neighbors immediately ran toward the garden. The blood-soaked sarpanch was picked up and taken to the hospital. There the doctors declared him dead.
National Conference Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the amount of condemnation for this act is less. This vicious cycle of violence does not seem to be ending. May Allah grant the departed a place in Paradise and give strength to his family members to bear this shock. He said that a sarpanch was killed today, and another civilian was killed two days ago, this series of killings also raises questions about the government's claims of improving the situation in Kashmir.
