Telangana Student Shot Dead in Chicago While Helping Friend at Work
The young student belonging to Indian-origin aged 22 years has been shot dead by unidentified assailants at a gas station near Chicago, United States, where he was employed, PTI reported family members say.

The deceased, Sai Teja Nukarapu, was reported to have been shot dead in the early hours of Saturday (IST) by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Madhusudan Thatha, citing initial information from the States.
Thatha, who visited Nukarapu's family at their Khammam residence, said that at the time of the incident, the victim was off duty; rather, he was helping a friend who asked him to stay on for some time as the latter had gone out on some work.

The 22-year-old has been described as working in a cash counter within a shopping mall, as per a report on India today.
With a BBA degree from India, Nukarapu was pursuing MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree in the US. He reportedly went to America only three months ago.

Meanwhile, MLC Thatha said he spoke to the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) for help in this regard. Mortal remains of Nukarapu will likely reach India next week.
The Consulate General of India in Chicago expressed shock over the demise of Nukarapu and said it was deeply saddened at the murder of the student. "We demand immediate action against the culprits. Consulate will extend all possible help to the family and friends of the victim," it added in a post on X.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also reacted to the news and posted on X, "Deeply grieved at this news. Our Consulate is rendering all possible assistance to the family."

This is barely one week after a 23-year-old Indian student from Telangana, Aryan Reddy, died after accidentally misfiring a hunting gun during his birthday celebrations in Georgia's Atlanta.

Accordingly, the report of India Today calls this 22-year-old working on a cash counter in a shopping mall.

"I recently came to know that he was shot while supporting his friend because he had no work," said the relative.
Meanwhile, MLC Thatha has spoken to TANA for assistance in this regard. The mortal remains of Nukarapu are likely to reach India next week.
Nukarapu's demise has been a shock and a reason for deep sadness expressed by Consulate General of India in Chicago at the murder of the student.
It comes just a week after 23-year-old Aryan Reddy, an Indian student from Telangana, was killed as a result of a hunting accident in his own Atlanta house during a birthday celebration.
