Technical fault in Air India flight, the flight had to return midway
The flight going from Kolkata to Mumbai had to return just after take off. There were 156 passengers on board the flight. An IndiGo flight took off from Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at around 10 am on Friday.

Air India flight 581 operating from Mumbai-Calicut sector could not take off this morning due to technical problem. After a pushback at 6.13 am, the flight was found to have a technical problem, after which it returned at 6.25 am. However, the technical problem was rectified after engineering investigation. Now the flight has been allowed to take off. Air India spokesperson has given this information.
Earlier on Friday, there was news of a technical glitch in the flight of Indigo Airlines. The flight going from Kolkata to Mumbai had to return just after take off. There were 156 passengers on board the flight. An IndiGo flight took off from Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at around 10 am on Friday. Shortly after, the pilot told air traffic control that the flight had a technical fault and wanted to return. After this the flight was brought back to Kolkata airport.
Significantly, in the midst of efforts by Tata group airline Air India to increase its global network and market share, its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Campbell Wilson said on Saturday that the airline is going to introduce economy class with more facilities in long-haul international flights. Speaking at an event at the JRD Tata Memorial Trust in Mumbai, Wilson said there are opportunities for India and Air India to become a dominant player in the world's aviation sector over the next decade.
