Taliban seeks Indian Government to resume flights

.The Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority which now has been forcefully acquired by the Taliban regime has apparently written to India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In the letter, they have written to resume the flights operated by its airlines, namely "Kam Air" and "Ariana Afghan Airline" to and from "New Delhi." The DGCA chief Arun Kumar has given a confirmatory nod to the letter reception. He further stated that the Ministry of Civil Aviation will take a call on this matter as this was a policy issue.

Since the forceful takeover of the entire Afghanistan, including the Kabul Airport, all the civilian flights were closed from August 16. After that, the Taliban, who apparently are a government now have managed to resume several airports. Currently, regular and international flights out of Kabul are being operated to Pakistan and Iran only.

In the letter, Afghanistan’s Acting Minister for Civil Aviation and Transport Alhaj Hamidullah Akhundzada wrote: “The intention of this letter is to keep the smooth passenger movement between two countries based on the signed MoU and our national carriers (Ariana Afghan Airline and Kam Air) aimed to commence their scheduled flights. Therefore, Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority requests you to facilitate their commercial flights.”
