Suryakumar Yadav Faces Injury Setback Before Bangladesh Series: India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the initial round of the Duleep Trophy that is to begin from September 5 because of a wrist injury that he has been distending during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament.
This injury was inflicted when Suryakumar was playing for Mumbai against TNCA XI in Coimbatore and due to this, he remained out of the final day’s play.
Suryakumar, who was earlier set to play for India C in the opening round match against India D at Ananthapur from September 5-8 would not be available for the team as per the BCCI sources reported PTI. The batter has been returned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for other evaluation and physiotherapy.

This is particularly so since the Duleep Trophy is a tournament featuring players in the nurture for inclusion in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh that starts September 19 in Chepauk.
At the same, the other match of the first round of Duleep Trophy will be played between India A and India B teams on M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
The tournament is expected to again present a great platform for the players to make their case for selector’s inclusion into the national squad for the Bangladesh series.

While it means that Suryakumar will not get an opportunity to perform in the Duleep Trophy, the batter has been out of reckoning for Test team since last year.
He featured in only one of the longest format while in the Test series against Australia, he only came on to the field during the first test of the Border-Gavaskar series. For the only innings that he got a chance to play in test, he managed to make only 8 runs, not to mention that he has been out of the side.
Suryakumar Yadav was named as India’s T20I captain in July of this year after Rohit Sharma stepped down from the leadership role all formats in the aftermath of the T20 World Cup. In the new dawn of Suryakumar, India began-powering off Sri Lanka 3-0 in their den in the T20I series.
