Supreme Court to hear matters related to Maharashtra's political crisis on November 29
The top court has received several petitions filed by rival groups of Shiv Sena in connection with the Maharashtra political crisis. In August, a three-judge bench of the apex court referred to a five-judge constitution bench the issues included in the petitions filed by rival Shiv Sena groups regarding the Maharashtra political crisis.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing till November 29 on the petitions filed by the factions of Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde related to the political crisis in Maharashtra. A five-judge constitution bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud asked the lawyers to complete the compilation of the case in four weeks and prepare the major issues for consideration.
The bench also includes Justice MR Shah, Justice Krishna Murari, Justice Hima Kohli and Justice PS Narasimha. The bench said advocates Javed ur Rehman and Chirag Shah would act as nodal counsel for each of the parties and they would complete the exercise in four weeks. Earlier, the top court had allowed the Election Commission to decide which of the Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde faction should be recognized as the real Shiv Sena and allotted the symbol of bow and arrow.

A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court had said that a larger Constitutional Bench may be required to consider certain issues related to the political crisis in Maharashtra. It had also asked Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar not to take any action on fresh disqualification notices issued against Shiv Sena members. Various petitions filed by both the factions of Shiv Sena are pending before the apex court.
