Supreme Court Panel to monitor the India-Israel Pegasus Report

After a controversial report release which stated that India bought the Pegasus software from Israel as part of a defence deal in 2017, the government officials have given a statement that a Supreme Court appointed panel will be monitoring the matter. The apex court will be releasing a report on the same which is still awaited.

The recent report of The New York Times has sparked controversy across the nation. The report mentions that Israeli spyware Pegasus and a missile system were the "centrepieces" of a roughly $2-billion dollar deal of the sophisticated weapons and intelligence gear between India and Israel in 2017. After the report was published in The New York Times, the central government came under a heavy criticism and was accused of blatantly lying and deceiving the entire Parliament.
