Supreme Court Of India : Live streaming of cases in the Constitution Bench will be heard in the Supreme Court from next week

In July last year, the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court NV Ramana had said that the live-streaming of the Supreme Court proceedings could start soon. The logistics are being worked out to enable this. Justice Ramana, during the virtual launch of the live-streaming of the Gujarat High Court proceedings, had said, "The Supreme Court is contemplating to start live streaming of some courts." High Court has gone live.

Justice Ramana had said that at present people get information about the court proceedings through the media. He had said, "In fact the information of the courts is being filtered by the agents of broadcasting. In this process, sometimes transmission loss occurs. This is due to the absence of context in the questions asked and the observations made by the bench." There are misinterpretations. There are vested interests, who are eager to amplify these misinterpretations to embarrass or defame the institution."

He had said that "lack of direct access gives room for misconceptions. The formality of live streaming of court proceedings is the best cure for this disease. Live-streaming of proceedings is vital for dissemination of information which is a sacred part of Article 19". aspect." He had said that through such direct access, people can directly get information about the entire proceedings and the opinion of the judges. This leaves "very little room for any mischief."
