Stree 2 Box Office Day 2: Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao Starrer Crosses Rs 100 Cr Mark

Stree 2 Box Office Day 2: Stree 2 was released in theatres nationwide on August 15, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, and has started its box office journey. The film has crossed the Rs 100.10 crore mark at the domestic box office, announced by the makers on Saturday.

Maddock Films, which was led by Dinesh Vijan shared the news on Instagram, “Unstoppable Entertainer! Stree 2 smashes into the 100 CR club on Day 2. Thank you, audience, for making #Stree2 a historic phenomenon!” the company wrote in the caption.

Amar Kaushik is the director of the film, in 2018 sequel of the film Stree was released in theatres nationwide on August 15, on Independence Day. The film made Rs 76.5 crore gross on its opening day.

The film opened to a whopping Rs 60.3 crore nett in India. On its second day, the movie which was hit in 2023 Animal and Pathaan, earned Rs 35.30 crore nett. This amount surpassed their opening-day collections, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The film was released with two other films on Independence Day Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. Where Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein collected Rs 1.9 crore taking its total to Rs 6.95 crore and John Abraham starrer Vedaa witnessed a major drop and earned Rs 1.6 crore, taking its total to Rs 7.9 crore.

Double iSmart (Telugu), Thangalaan (Tamil), and Mr Bachchan (Telugu) regional films are also films which released on August 15.

Because of Raksha Bandhan, the weekend has been extended until Monday, which seems like Stree 2’s opening weekend collection will be historic, as the film has already made Rs 76.5 crore gross on its first day.

The Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 was released last year on Independence Day, and made Rs 83.18 crore in the first two days, and Stree 2 has already overtaken that number.

In Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe, Stree 2 is also part of it. In Roohi, the film adds Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan in the film Bhediya and Sharwari Wagh in the film Munjya in its franchise. In this horror universe, Stree 2 is the fifth film.
