Stock Market: Sensex-Nifty jumped, Rupee closed at record low of 78.32

After a huge fall in the previous session, the Indian stock market opened on a positive note on Thursday, June 23 and made gains. The 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 52,266 with a gain of 0.86% or 443 points. At the same time, NSE Nifty fell 0.9% or 143 points to close at 15,557. The rupee closed at a record low of 78.32 against the US dollar.
Shares of Maruti, M&M, Airtel and Asian Paints were the top losers in the Sensex while Reliance, PowerGrid, NTPC were the biggest losers in the Stock Market.
European shares opened at lower levels on Thursday, June 23. The reason for this was that the chairman of the US central market - the Federal Reserve, said that since the US central bank is increasing interest rates to calm rising inflation, a recession is possible.
According to traders and economic analysts, cash dollar crunch and forward market intervention by the Reserve Bank of India, which has pushed its onshore 1-year forward premiums to all-time lows - pushed the rupee to its new low.
