Ind vs Aus 3rd Test: Steve Smith hits century after New Zealand fans trolled him for poor form

Australian batsman Steve Smith has hit a century in the third test match against India in the four-test series.

Smith played 226 balls, hit 16 fours, and scored 131 runs with the scoring rate of 57.96. He was the highest run-scorer as Australia made 338 runs in the first inning.

He was run out by Ravindra Jadeja as the last man at the team’s score of 338.

His poor form was not only a cause for concern for the team but even his fans were upset with him.

Some of the fans in New Zealand mocked Smith’s batting during the second test match between New Zealand and Pakistan.

A fan held a hand-written poster that read, “Cricket bats for sale. Barely used. Call S Smith, J Burns @ Cricket Australia.”

J Burns also showed poor form and he was dropped from the team in the third test.

Burns had scored a half-century in the first test against India but his poor batting continued as he scored 0 and 4 in the second test.

Smith spoke to Fox Cricket after his century and said that he was reading lots of things people say about out of form, “but think there's a difference between out of form and out of runs so it was just nice to score a few and maybe keep a few people quiet."

Smith’s initial performance in the ODI matches against India was fabulous as he had scored two consecutive centuries on 62 balls. However, since then he was seen struggling with his batting.
