State Govt to relinquish 3-Day Notice Before powerful Action: HC on Wankhede' Plea

Bombay court on Thursday, twenty eight October, granted relief to Narcotics management Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede, who has been connected to a Rs 8 large integer pay-off, and had sought-after protection from any powerful action throughout probe initiated by the Maharashtra government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Wankhede, in a very petition filed before the supreme court for protection, had questioned why a parallel probe was being conducted if the senior NCB officers were investigating the allegations against him, seeking for the investigation to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Disposing the petition, the court noted that it's not dominated on the idea of the deserves within the case.

Representing the NCB official, Senior Advocate Atul Nanda and counsel Rameeza hakim submitted that Wankhede is apprehending that the Bombay Police can arrest him. "If Mumbai Police arrests Maine today, that is my apprehension, milords shouldn't wait until the State flouts my rights," the counsel said, Bar and Bench reported.

Wankhede, in a petition filed with the High Court of Protection, had asked why a parallel investigation had been carried out if senior NCB officials were investigating the allegations against him, demanding that the investigation be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI ) or the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Wankhede' counsel further declared that the drug agency officer isn't a drug peddler.
