Sri Sri Ravi Shankar gets 'The Emissary of Peace' honor in America, appeals to unite for world peace

Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was honored with 'The Emissary of Peace' award by the National Civil Rights Museum (NCRM). This award was presented to him in the city of Memphis, USA. Sri Sri arrived in Memphis on Monday as part of his 'I Stand for Peace' tour. Let us tell you that the National Civil Rights Museum is famous for non-violence and social change in America.
Presenting the award to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Shaila Karkera, Director, NCRM Board, said, “It is our greatest pleasure and privilege to present Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with The Emissary of Peace Award from the National Civil Rights Museum . As a global humanitarian, a peace ambassador and the founder of Sudarshan Kriya Yoga programs, you have reached millions of people in 180 countries. We are honored to present you with this special award for your incredible work. ' NCRM Board Chairman Herb Hilliard was also present at the event.
Over a thousand people attended Sri Sri's 'I Stand for Peace' event in Memphis. These people expressed their commitment to internal and external peace. Sri Sri also met with local officials, including members of the city council, the Department of Education and the Department of Justice, to discuss ways to reduce violence, particularly among youth.
Gurudev's global 'I Stand for Peace' tour will conclude next year with a grand celebration of humanity at the iconic National Mall in Washington DC. It was at this place that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous 'I have a dream' speech 60 years ago. Now once again from this place, Sri Sri will give the message of world peace.
