In fact, Gotabaya Rajapaksa was about to catch a flight from Maldives to Singapore on Wednesday night itself, but here too he canceled due to heavy protests. He left his flight. Hence the demand for private jets.
The Maldives National Party (MNP) has expressed displeasure over the government's decision to allow the Sri Lankan President to visit the Maldives and said it would seek clarification from the government by making a proposal in this regard. MNP leader and former Maldivian Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon said that it is very disappointing that the Maldivian government does not take into account the sentiments of the people of Sri Lanka.
