Special Staff of North East Delhi Police arrested a dreaded criminal

In a significant success to control crime in North East Delhi, the special police team has arrested an inter-state dreaded criminal, who is an associate of jamal@ranjha gang. At the time of his arrest, he was armed with one sophisticated pistol loaded with 5 live cartridges.

“On February, 28, a tip regarding the presence of Inter-state dreaded criminal, armed with sophisticated weapon and associate of Jamal @ Ranjha Gang was received by Special Staff of North East District,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP. North East District, New Delhi, said.

He added, “The same was verified through reliable sources and on the direction of senior Officers, a police team comprising SI Ajay, SI Ravi, ASI Jaivir, ASI Satish Rana, HC Irfan, HC Sanjeev, HC Dharmender, Const. Rajesh and Const. Vinay under the supervision of Inspr. Vikas Kr. Buldak, IC/Spl. Staff/NED laid traps at different points in the area of Mother Dairy, Yamuna Vihar.”

At around 06:10 PM, a person was seen walking from Ghonda's side towards the Noor-e-Elahi petrol pump. On the instance of the informer, the police team signalled to stop him but he started running in a nearby street in order to evade his arrest. He was chased and overpowered by the police after a brief scuffle.

On cursory search, a sophisticated, semi-automatic pistol, loaded with five live cartridges in a magazine was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, he was apprehended and a case was registered and an investigation was taken up.

During the course of the investigation, his identity was established as Arvind @ Kaku. He confessed to his crime and disclosed that he is a close associate of Jamal @ Ranjha, Head of Ranjha Gang and a former associate of Hasim Baba Gang.

At present Jamal @ Ranjha is on parole and he was providing security to Jamal from his rivals. On further interrogation, he revealed the source of the weapon. On sustained interrogation, his previous involvements in other criminal cases in Delhi and Meerut (UP) also surfaced.

“Sincere efforts are on to arrest the source of the weapon. Further investigation in the case is in progress,” DCP Sain said.
