In continuation to its efforts, “on February 25, 2022, a police team of Special Staff of North East District, received secret information from a reliable source regarding two persons with stolen motorcycle and snatched mobile phones,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North East District, New Delhi, said.
He added, “Accordingly, on the instruction of senior officers a police team comprising ASI Harendra Singh, HC Dharmender, HC Anil, HC Sachi Dev, HC Irfan, Const. Sarwan, Const. Vinay and Const. Deepak under the supervision of Inspr. Vikas Kumar Buldak, laid a trap in the area of Jyoti Nagar, at about 09:30 PM.”
On the instance of Informer, two motorcycle-borne youths were stopped and checked. On checking, 20 mobiles phones of different make and models were recovered from a multi-coloured bag in their possession, on asking about the ownership details/bills of phones they could not provide any satisfactory answer.
Accordingly, they were apprehended and examined thoroughly. On examination, their identity was established as Mohd. Imran @ Chand Nawab and Mohd. Danish.
On further investigation, they confessed to their crime and disclosed that they used to snatch the mobile phones from the people walking alone on the lone stretches in the North East District and its adjacent area.
“On sustained interrogation, their involvements in previous cases of Theft/Robbery and Arms Act surfaced. They further confessed that the motorcycle Bajaj Pulsar, No. UP-14 DL-8087they was riding was stolen by them around two and a half months back from the area near Tonga Stand, Nand Nagri,” DCP Sain said.
He added, “On checking, it was found from Nand Nagri, Delhi. Further investigation to connect the stolen/snatched mobile phones with the cases is in progress.”
