South West District Delhi Police arrested active snatcher, recovered mobile phones, scooty

The Anti Snatching Cell of South West District‘s prompt action led to the arrest of an active snatcher who tried to flee after noticing the presence of the officers. However, he was chased and caught immediately.

A team comprising Sub Inspector Mukesh, Assistant Sub Inspector Bachchu Singh, Constables Nandkishor and Naveen of Anti Snatching Cell of South West District showed their presence of mind and acted swiftly.

In view of the security arrangement of Republic Day celebrations, the team of anti snatching cell comprising of was constituted under the overall supervision of ACP Abhinedra Jain Operations South West and was deployed in the area.

”On January 25, 2022, the team of anti snatching cell was present in high alert mode due to Republic Day Celebrations, in the area of Vasant Kunj South Police Station. The team headed by Mukesh noticed one suspicious person who was coming from Rangpuri side on scooty but changed his directions after seeing the police team,” Gaurav Sharma, DCP, South West District, said.

The alert staff apprehended the suspicious person with scooty Activa blue colour No DL10SR3291. On checking it was found to be stolen from police station Rajouri Garden. The person was later identified as 20-year-old Anil, resident of Swatantar Nagar, Narela, Delhi.

During the search of the accused person, four snatched mobile phones were recovered from his possession. During detailed interrogation accused disclosed that he commits snatching with one Pradeep.

Sharma added, “He also disclosed he was born in Subhash Nagar, Delhi. He is a school dropout of 10th standard and he has two sisters. His father has expired and he is drugs addicts and to fulfil his drug need, he used to snatch mobile phone & purse.”

Concerned authorities have been informed regarding the arrest of accused persons and further investigation is in the process to affect more recoveries.
