A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Punjab visit, Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead in Amritsar. He had reached outside Gopal Mandir with his security personnel. Broken idols of deities were thrown by some people outside the temple. When Suri came to know about this, he reached outside the temple.

Sudhir Suri has been receiving assassination threats from Khalistani terrorists and their accomplices for the past several years. In view of this, the government had deployed a dozen security personnel of Punjab Police under his protection. Now for the last few days, Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was getting death threats again.
At three o'clock on Friday, he went near Gopal Mandir with his convoy. There a young man shot him and fled. The security personnel present on the spot chased him, beat him first and later handed him over to the police.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Punjab tomorrow on Saturday. He will reach Dera Beas and will meet Baba Gurinder Singh, the head of the Dera. Security agencies are in a tizzy over the killing of the Shiv Sena leader just a day before the PM's visit. Experts are also seeing it by connecting it to the Khalistani angle. There are security agencies and police alert regarding PM's visit. Despite this the Hindu leader was murdered.
