In a commendable effort, a police team from the Shastri Park police station arrested a dreaded robber who was involved in multiple criminal cases including a daylight robbery at gunpoint. The team has also recovered 3 live cartridges and a motorcycle used in the commission of the crime.

On January 30, a complaint regarding a robbery at gunpoint in the morning hours was received at Shastri Park police station. The complainant stated that, while she was waiting for a bus near Shyam Giri Mandir on GT Road near Bela farm, two bike-borne persons robbed her bag containing Cash Rs. 2000, PAN Card, Aadhar Card and a gold chain and fled towards Seelampur.
When she resisted the robbery, one of the assailants hit her with the butt of the country-made pistol, as a result of impact one live cartridge also ejected from the gun and fell on the ground.
Accordingly, on her complaint, a case was registered and an investigation was taken up.
“Assessing the gravity of a daylight robbery on gunpoint, a police team comprising SI Parvesh, PSI Rajkumar, ASI Hari Singh, HC Deepak and Const. Rahish under the supervision of Inspr Vinod Ahlawat and Inspr Harish Chandra scanned and analysed several CCTV footage of the nearby vicinity. Technical surveillance as well as human intelligence was also deployed,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North East District, said.
He added, “After putting tiresome and diligent efforts, the police team got success in identifying the motorcycle used in the commission of the crime. In addition, one mobile number was searched from the haystack by Const. Rahish.”
On the basis of skilful analysis of various CDRs, locations of the said mobile were traced to Aligarh in UP. As the location of the mobile number was frequently changing. The pPolice team was also conducting multiple raids in and around the Aligarh. Finally, on February 18, the police team zeroed in on a location and on the basis of the door to door search and local intelligence a person was arrested from the area near Hari Masjid, PS Sasni Gate, Aligarh, UP.
On examination, his identity was established as Ashraf and he confessed to his crime and revealed that he along with his associate namely Arif attempted the robbery. On his instance, the motorcycle Bajaj Pulsar No. DL-8SBD-2271 used in the commission of the crime was recovered.
On sustained interrogation, it surfaced that he is a history sheeters of Aligarh involved in multiple cases of attempt to murder, robbery, theft/snatching NDPS and Arms Act in UP.
