The country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also condoled his demise. He tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the demise of Sharad Yadav. In his long public life, he distinguished himself as a parliamentarian and minister. He was greatly influenced by the ideals of Dr. Lohia. I will always cherish our conversations." Will keep. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti."

Sharad Yadav's party Loktantrik Janata Dal merged with Rashtriya Janata Dal on March 20, 2022. His move was seen as an attempt to rehabilitate his allies as he formed his own party after parting ways with Janata Dal (U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, but it did not perform well. He contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on RJD ticket. At the same time, his daughter contested the 2020 Bihar assembly elections as a Congress candidate. At that time the Congress was involved in the RJD-led alliance.
