Security arrangements in the capital in view of Diwali, police on high alert
Delhi Police officials said that police personnel in plain clothes will be deployed in markets and crowded areas to deter any anti-social elements or criminals trying to create any kind of unpleasant situation. In the South-West district, a cyber awareness program was organized at Sarojini Nagar Market to sensitize citizens and create awareness among people, especially children and students, women and senior citizens.

In view of the increasing crowd in the markets regarding Diwali in the capital Delhi, Delhi Police has further strengthened the security system. While additional police force has been deployed in the major markets of the capital, on the other hand, adequate security arrangements have been made in big malls as well. Delhi Police has already been put on high alert to deal with any untoward incident. A statement has also been issued by the Delhi Police on Saturday regarding the security of markets and malls. Delhi Police said that elaborate security arrangements have been made in those markets, malls, important establishments and places where there is a possibility of large gathering of people.
He said police presence has been increased through patrolling and deployment of additional pickets. All the policemen are also on high alert to prevent any untoward incident. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda said that in view of the festive season, we have increased patrolling in the market areas, additional police pickets have been put up and personnel have been deployed. From a counter-terrorism point of view, investigations are being conducted to ensure that no anti-social or anti-national elements engage in activities that can hurt anyone. Hooda said that women personnel have been deployed for the safety of women. They will also patrol major intersections on scooters to ensure a safe environment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (East) Priyanka Kashyap along with Additional DCP Sachin Sharma, other officers and police personnel took stock of the security arrangements. Kashyap spoke to the deployed personnel to inform, sensitize and motivate them. He also interacted with the representatives of the Market Welfare Association and the general public to take their suggestions.
