Sanjay Raut Faces Backlash Over ‘Pahalgam Terrorists May Join BJP’ Remark

Sanjay Raut Faces Backlash: As the Pakistan-backed terrorists who murdered 26 people in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir may join the ruling BJP, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday said they remain free.

"The terrorists must have joined the BJP. Perhaps, this why they are still free. The six Pahalgam terrorists are not being caught because one day, you might get a press note from the BJP office saying those six people have joined the BJP," Raut, whose party is a former BJP ally, told reporters.

The Rajya Sabha member also accused PM Narendra Modi of "politicising" Operation Sindoor, the counter anti-terror operation the Indian armed forces carried out in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

"Our soldiers did this action, but there is a bit of a contest for credit, and our Prime Minister is flagging it. No one can go and give the sacred Sindoor to anyone...if you send to the women because our workers are first solution, then you are insulting Sindoor," he said.

Raut's fresh remarks came days after labels labelled operation Sindoor a "failure," and called for the resignation of Union home minister Amit Shah for his non-action in preventing the Pahalgam attack.

"Operation Sindoor was a failure. However, in the interest of the nation, we, the opposition, are not talking about it. Why was it needed? Because terrorists widowed 26 women in Pahalgam. Home minister Amit Shah is responsible for this...he should resign from his post. Or, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should sack him (Shah)," the Shiv Sena (UBT) MP said on Tuesday.
