Sanjay Bangar Advocates for Karun Nair at No. 4 and Abhimanyu Easwaran as Opener in India A’s England Tour
Karun Nair will represent India again as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has selected him for the India A team for its tour of England.

After a long absence of eight years, Karun Nair will represent India again as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has selected him for the India A team for its tour of England.
Karun Nair has been included in the India A team based on his performance during the recent domestic cricket season. The right-handed batsman displayed the ability to bat with consistency in both the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring a sum total of more than 1,600 runs during both tournaments.

If Nair performs again successfully during this tour of England, there could be a realistic opportunity for him to make the senior national side, as the team is currently under reconstruction after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Nair's successful batting in the 2024 Indian domestic season was critical in returning him to the national team selection discussions. It was even hypothesized he would be named to India's squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 following such a remarkable season in the 2024 Vijay Hazare Trophy and scored 779 runs in just seven innings (with five centuries), the most by any player in the tournament's history.

Even with his tremendous home career, it has been eight years since Nair has played for the senior Indian side. Nair last played in March 2017 against Australia and is a distinguished player among Indian batters as he was one of only two players to score a triple century in Test matches along with Virender Sehwag. Nair scored the first triple century against England where he scored an unbeaten 303 in the third Test match in December 2016.
Starting on May 30, the India A side will be starting their tour of England, and with players involved in the IPL cannot play against the England Lions. This series of three matches will complete on June 16, four days before the Indian senior team plays matches against England in Headingley.
