Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Intruder Unaware He Entered Actor’s House, Say Police

Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: At around 3 a.m. on Thursday, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at his Bandra residence, and it took nearly three days before the Mumbai police arrested him. According to the Mumbai Police, the alleged main perpetrator, a Bangladeshi citizen named Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, was supposed to be in custody. Just the enumerator had briefly given an incorrect statement, and then there was another statement. After gathering various evidence and checking the addresses and beaten information, the police have now confirmed that Shehzad was an illegal immigrant with many aliases.

The wounds inflicted on Khan in the attack were serious, a 2.5-inch blade being taken from Saif Ali Khan after some emergency surgery. The victim appears to have been left in a timely manner. Those sent by the police who saw the operation at Lilavati Hospital mentioned that he continued to be on a ventilator but was transferred to a normal ward. The follow-up is therefore closely monitored, while the upper officers in that case take a relief.

The policeman interrogated two individuals in separate locations immediately after the attack-one in Chhattisgarh and the other in Mumbai-but were later cleared from suspicion. ANI news agency reported the arrest in Thane of Shehzad, who was about to embark on planning to go back to his homeland in Bangladesh.

Main accused Shehzad was booked under several aspects of criminal law against Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for criminal assault and burglary and related cruelty sections under the Passport Rules for entering India clandestinely. Under the knife, Shandatha Shehzad will be considered as Vijay Das or Bijoy Das alias and might have done various housekeeping jobs in the Mumbai area over the past five to six months.

On his arrest in Mumbai, he was given a five-day police remand in connection with the assault case. Advocate Sandeep Shekhane, the lawyer for Shehzad present in court at the time of the hearing, announced that some police said Shehzad only came to India six months ago, which he denied, claiming his stay with his family in Mumbai was for more than seven years now. He also claimed that section 43A had been disregarded as there was no proper case investigation.

"A police custody for 5 days has been granted. The court has asked the police to submit a report within 5 days. The police have no proof that he is a Bangladeshi. They said that he came here 6 months ago, it is a wrong statement."

"He has been living here for more than 7 years. His family is in Mumbai... This is a clear-cut violation of 43A. No proper investigation has been done," he said
