Saif Ali Khan Hotel Brawl Case: Mumbai police have dropped Malaika Arora as a prosecution witness in the 2012 hotel brawl case involving Saif Ali Khan. She doesn’t support their case. This was decided during the hearing on Wednesday in the magistrate’s court.
Arora appeared in court with her lawyer Archit Jaykar after a bailable warrant was issued against her on April 7 for not responding to the previous summons. This was not the first time a warrant was issued against her in the case.

The court also cancelled the bailable warrant issued against her earlier when she finally appeared before Chief Judicial Magistrate (Esplanade Court) K S Zanwar. In April, a Mumbai court had pulled up Malaika Arora for skipping multiple summons in the long pending hotel brawl case. The judge had observed that Arora was deliberately dodging court appearances and warned her that a non-bailable warrant could be the next step if she doesn’t show up again. This was her final chance to comply with the legal process.

In 2012, Saif Ali Khan and two others were arrested after a complaint was filed by NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma. The alleged brawl took place at a five-star hotel where Saif was dining with Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora and few friends. According to the police, Sharma objected to the loud conversation at Saif’s table which reportedly led to Saif threatening him and then allegedly punching him in the nose resulting in a fracture.
The case took a serious turn when the complainant NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma also accused Saif Ali Khan and his friends of assaulting his father-in-law Raman Patel. Saif however has maintained that it was Sharma who provoked the situation by making offensive remarks and using abusive language towards the women at their table. Saif along with his two friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi has been charge-sheeted under Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code which deals with voluntarily causing grievous hurt. Next hearing is on August 22.
