RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat to Meet Muslim Religious Leaders: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat met over 70 Muslim leaders, scholars and intellectuals at Haryana Bhawan in Delhi on Thursday. The closed-door meeting aimed at building mutual understanding and national unity.
Top RSS leadership including General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, Joint General Secretary Krishna Gopal, Ram Lal, Indresh Kumar and others were present. Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, head of All India Imam Organisation also attended the dialogue.
The meeting was facilitated by Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), an RSS affiliated platform that engages with Muslim community leaders across the country.

In 2023 MRM will launch a nationwide campaign to reach out to minority community to promote the idea of “one nation, one flag, one National Anthem”.
In September 2022 Bhagwat had met many Muslim intellectuals and discussed ways to increase religious inclusivity in the country. The meeting was to propagate Sangh’s ideas and promote religious inclusivity. Gyanvapi controversy, Hijab controversy and population control were among the topics discussed during the meeting.
Many veterans from the community were present including Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) S Y Qureshi, Former Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung, Former Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Lieutenant General Zameer Uddin Shah, Former MP Shahid Siddiqui and businessman Saeed Shervani.

In October 2022 RSS leader Indresh Kumar visited Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi and lit earthen lamps at the shrine. At the time, he said, “No one should be forced to convert and do violence. Everyone should follow their own religion and caste… When all religions are respected, the country will be free from fundamentalists.”
At a programme attended by Muslim scholars, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke on unity and shared heritage between Hindus and Muslims in India. He said both have common ancestors and there is no need for Muslims to fear living in India.
Bhagwat stated, “We must think in terms of India’s supremacy, not Muslim supremacy,” and called for national unity over religious divisions.
Elaborating on the idea of identity, Bhagwat said, “Hindu is not a term confined to caste or language. It is the name of a tradition that supports the development and upliftment of every individual, regardless of their religion, sect, or language. Therefore, everyone living in India is a Hindu in this sense.”
