RG Kar Rape-Murder Case: Sanjay Roy Claims ‘False Implication’ After Conviction

RG Kar Rape-Murder Case: On being convicted of raping and murdering the trainee of medical science at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sanjay Roy, a former civil volunteer, said in front of the court of Sealdah that he was being involved in a false charge at the Barasat robbery.

He claimed that those responsible for it had been positively identified by him intentionally directly.
"I have been falsely implicated. I have not done this. Those who have done so are being let go. One IPS involved," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
He was advised by the court that he will be allowed to raise his point before the court on Monday, when it would be determining his sentencing.
"The accused will be heard on Monday. Now he is being sent to judicial custody. His punishment will be announced on Monday. I have fixed the time at 12:30 to hear the case," the judge said.
The pronouncement of the judgment came after nearly two months of an in-camera trial that started in November of the last year.
Sanjay Roy was held guilty under Sections 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita that relates to rape, Sections 66 and 103 (1) of the Act, which deals with punishment for murder.

Section 103(1) of BNS also carries maximum punishment in the form of death or life imprisonment.
The deceased's parents expressed their gratitude to the judge for the decision on guiltening them, saying that the court had fulfilled their trust in them, PTI reported.
This concerns the rape and murder of the 28-year-old postgraduate medical student on August, the student whose dead corpse had been discovered lying in a seminar of the hospital itself.
The Kolkata Police civic volunteer was arrested a day later.
According to investigators, he acted alone, but the victim’s family and junior doctors’ groups suspected a wider conspiracy.
