Relief to the government from the statement of the Supreme Court, special counseling of NEET-PG
The apex court said that the decision of the government and the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) not to conduct special counseling is in the interest of medical education and public health.

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed several petitions seeking special counseling to fill 1,456 seats in NEET-PG-2021 and said that the decision of the government and the medical council not to conduct special counseling cannot be called arbitrary. Justice M.R. Shah and Justice Aniruddha Bose said the quality of medical education cannot be compromised as it will affect public health.
Earlier, the Supreme Court on Thursday said that there should be a limit on counseling of special 'stray round' for All India quota in NEET-PG-2021 and students cannot be admitted by compromising on education and people's health.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday told the apex court that it has conducted four-stage online counseling for NEET-PG-21 and it cannot fill 1,456 seats by conducting special counseling as the software is "locked in".
The Supreme Court on Wednesday slammed the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) for over 1,450 seats remaining vacant in NEET-PG-21. The top court said that this has not only put the candidates in trouble but it will also lead to shortage of doctors.
