Red Fort Attack Case: Supreme Court gives a death sentence to Mohammad Arif

The Supreme Court dismissed the review petition of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist and Pakistani national Mohammad Arif alias Ashfaq challenging the earlier order of the apex court while upholding the death sentence awarded in the Red Fort attack case of 2000. In the attack carried out by the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, 3 people, including two soldiers, lost their lives.
The Red Fort was attacked on 22 December 2000 by the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Three people including two soldiers were killed in this attack. Two terrorists who had infiltrated the Red Fort were also killed in retaliation by the Indian Army after the attack. In this case, on 31 October 2005, the lower court convicted Mohammad Arif and sentenced him to death.
Mohammad Arif had approached the Supreme Court in 2013 after getting the death sentence from the lower court. However, the Supreme Court dismissed the review petition upholding Arif's death sentence. After this, in 2014, the Supreme Court also dismissed Arif's curative petition. Now again the Supreme Court has also dismissed the review petition filed regarding the punishment of the guilty.
