Nabi had been a member of the Party since the 1970s, and his resignation is a huge setback for the Congress Party. He wrote, “After the entry of Shri Rahul Gandhi into Politics and particularly by January 2013 when he was appointed as Vice President, the entire Consultative Mechanism which existed earlier was demolished by him.”
He further wrote, “All senior and experienced leaders were sidelined and a new coterie of inexperienced sycophants started running the affairs of the party, for instance, tearing up a Government Ordinance.”
Addressing Sonia Gandhi, he also said, “While you are just a nominal figurehead all the important decisions were being taken by Shri Rahul Gandhi or rather worse his security guards and PA’s.”
Concluding his four-page resignation, he wrote, “I hereby resign from all my positions including the primary membership of the Indian National Congress”
