RCP Singh resigns from JDU amid allegations of corruption

RCP Singh had served as principal secretary during Nitish Kumar's first five years as chief minister. Later, Singh's dominance in the JDU increased, which can be understood from the fact that he was sent to the Rajya Sabha twice in a row. After Nitish Kumar, Singh was made the national president of JDU.

RCP Singh resigns from JDU amid allegations of corruption

Former Union Minister Ramchandra Prasad Singh (RCP Singh) has resigned from the primary membership of Janata Dal United (JDU). RCP Singh has taken this step amid allegations of corruption. RCP Singh announced to leave JDU in a press conference in his village today. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's party Janata Dal United today sought an explanation from its former national president RCP Singh on serious allegations of corruption leveled by some party workers. Party's state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha had sought a reply from former Union minister RCP Singh. Singh's term in the Rajya Sabha ended recently but the party did not send him to the House again. Umesh Singh Kushwaha wrote in the letter to Singh, "You are well aware that our honorable leader (Nitish Kumar) is working with a policy of 'Zero Tolerance' towards corruption and he has been impeccable in his long political career. A complaint made against Singh by unknown party workers has also been attached with the letter.

JDU activists have alleged that "huge assets" were acquired between 2013 and 2022 in the name of RCP Singh and his family members. On a question from journalists, JDU Parliamentary Board Chairman Upendra Kushwaha said, "It is not proper to disclose who has leveled the allegations. But clarification has been sought. The party will decide the further course of action based on their reply.

Responding to a question, Kushwaha said the investigating agencies are free to take suo motu cognizance in the matter, which they would have come to know through the media. However, when asked whether this development was a sign of the former party president closing the doors in the party, Kushwaha said, "It is a political question. The party is not looking at the matter politically.

RCP Singh, a former Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer, had won Nitish Kumar's trust while on central deputation in the late 1990s. Nitish Kumar was the Union Minister at that time. Singh took voluntary retirement in 2010 to join politics.
