RBI governor Shaktikanta Das given 3-year extension by govt till December 2024
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor has been given an extension of 3 years by the govt till December 2024. "The Appointments Committee of the cabinet has approved the reappointment of Shaktikanta Das as RBI Governor for a duration of three years.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor has been given an extension of 3 years by the govt till December 2024. "The Appointments Committee of the cabinet has approved the reappointment of Shaktikanta Das as RBI Governor for a duration of three years on the far side December 10, 2021, or until any orders, whichever is earlier," in line with a political candidate statement. the decision was approved by the Cabinet's appointments committee late Thursday.
Das assumed charge because the twenty fifth Governor of the banking concern of Republic of India effective December 12, 2018. He was additionally the Department of Economic Affairs Secretary under the Finance Ministry. He was also an acting member of fifteenth Finance Commission and G20 Sherpa of India. He control necessary positions in finance, taxation, industries and infrastructure throughout his career. He had also served as India’s Alternate Governor at the globe Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and New Development Bank (NDB) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
During his previous collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Das was directly involved in the preparation of eight Union budgets. He graduated from St Stephens College, University of Delhi.
Das took over central bank from Urjit Patel who resigned amid growing disagreements with the government on many issues, including the autonomy of the RBI.
