A Dalit family in Rajasthan reportedly hired a private chopper to bring home their newly wed bride. Interestingly, this has happened for the first time. This incident took place in the Barmer district. Reportedly in Jaisalmer, Dalit grooms are threatened for riding the horse owing to the old home belief that they are low-castes and should not be allowed to ride horses.
However, even the helicopter landing could not be tolerated by the villagers as police had to intervene even then. The crowd went berserk forcing the pilot to shelve the landing plan. The police eventually controlled the people in the form of mob and ensured smooth landing and safety of the passengers.
The family members when asked stated that they really wanted there bride to come through a helicopter. Even though this flight costed them a lakh rupees extra, they wanted the bride to be instilled with pride. Netizens were appraising the mentality of the family members, and this gesture although whimsical, was considered admirable by many.
