Raj Babbar sentenced to Two years imprisonment, had assaulted an election officer 26 years ago
According to the court, the report of this case was lodged on May 2, 1996 at Wazirganj police station against SP candidates Raj Babbar and Arvind Yadav besides unknown people. This report was filed by the election officer Shri Krishna Singh Rana.
The MP-MLA court of Lucknow has sentenced actor Raj Babbar to 2 years with 8500 rupees. Raj Babbar has been sentenced 26 years ago on May 2, 1996 in the case of assaulting an election officer in Wazirganj, Lucknow. At that time Raj Babbar was the SP candidate from Lucknow. However, he has also got bail from the court in the case.
According to the court, the report of this case was lodged on May 2, 1996 at Wazirganj police station against SP candidates Raj Babbar and Arvind Yadav besides unknown people. This report was filed by the election officer Shri Krishna Singh Rana. It is alleged in the report that when voters stopped coming to booth number 192 of polling station number 192/103, he was going out of the polling station and going to eat food when Samajwadi Party candidate Raj Babbar reached the polling station with his companions and falsely accused of bogus voting.
They beat up the election officials Shri Krishna Singh Rana and Shiv Kumar Singh. Polling officer Manoj Kumar Srivastava, posted at booth number 191 of the polling station, intervened by the police and others. Arvind Yadav, the second accused involved in the assault on Raj Babbar, died only when the matter was pending in the court. During the hearing, Shri Krishna Singh Rana, Shiv Kumar Singh, Manoj Shrivastava besides two other witnesses had testified regarding the case.
