Heavy rains have resulted in at least 12 deaths in several states of North India over the past two days. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for the next few days.
IMD has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. It should be noted that Delhi has been experiencing continuous rainfall, leading to waterlogging on roads.
The capital city has been severely affected by waterlogged streets due to heavy rainfall. Delhi recorded 153mm of rain in 24 hours, the highest for a single day in July since 1982. This rainfall has broken a 41-year record.
Continuous heavy rainfall in Delhi and the surrounding areas persisted even on Sunday. Additionally, Gurugram faced problems of waterlogging and power cuts in several areas.
According to reports, a 58-year-old woman in Delhi died after the roof of her apartment collapsed, while four individuals lost their lives in Rajasthan due to rain. In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain caused a house to collapse, resulting in the deaths of a woman and her six-year-old daughter.

Continued rainfall in South India Meanwhile, southern Indian states of Kerala and Karnataka are also experiencing continuous rainfall in many areas. IMD has issued a yellow alert in four districts of Kerala - Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
As the rain continues to wreak havoc in various parts of the country, authorities are urging people to exercise caution and stay safe.
